Brewster Completes Marine Corps Basic Training

Pvt. Luke Brewster, son of James Brewster and Gail and Carl Bandy of Warrenton, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C.

Brewster is the grandson of John W. Breen Sr. and the late Lucile C. Breen of Warrenton, Joy Prose and the late Paul C. Prose Sr. of Lynchburg, Va., and the late James Brewster of Florida and Yvonne and Harry Wilson of Decatur, Ill.

The recruit successfully completed 12 weeks of basic training designed to challenge new Marine recruits, both physically and mentally. He earned the sharpshooter metal in marksmanship. He spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments, which included first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and assorted weapons training.

Following two weeks home on leave, he reported to the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, N.C., then went on to his first assignment at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, Hawaii.
