Catlett Branch of The Fauquier Bank Robbed

Detectives from the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Saturday morning.

Police said the incident happened at the Catlett branch of The Fauquier Bank at approximately 10:53 a.m.

The suspect is described as a black man who is approximately 6 feet tall. According to police, he was wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, a mask, a navy blue blazer or sports coat with a light blue button-up shirt, white gloves and khaki pants.

He displayed a semiautomatic hand gun and did not say anything to the teller, police said.

The suspect reportedly exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and left the area in a white vehicle driven by another black male. They were last seen heading away from the bank on Old Dumfries Road.

No one was hurt.

This is the third time a branch of The Fauquier Bank has been robbed at gunpoint in the last seven months.

The first incident occurred at the Catlett branch December 19, 2008.

In that case, an unknown man armed with a semiautomatic handgun entered the bank, which is located in the 3500 block of Catlett Road and robbed it at gunpoint. The suspect was described as a dark-skinned male, approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing a boonie-style camouflage-patterned hat, dark pants and dark shoes. He was also wearing light-colored gloves.

He fled the bank with an unknown amount of money.

Then, on Jan. 26, the New Baltimore Branch, which is located in the 5119 block of Lee Highway [U.S. 29] was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown man.

He was reportedly wearing a blue jeans and a burgundy top. He was also wearing black-and-white gloves.

The suspect in the New Baltimore robbery case, who was armed with a shotgun, fled the scene in a two-tone, older model Ford truck, police said.

He also got away with an unknown amount of money.
