Burglaries Investigated

Three burglaries reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week remain under investigation. The details provided in police reports are as follows:

Jan. 12, A caller from the 3400 block of Oak Hill Road, Delaplane, reported a burglary with the theft of two firearms and assorted jewelry. The estimated loss is $8,342.50.

Jan. 12, Someone from the 11400 block of Crest Hill Road, Marshall, reported a burglary with the theft of two laptops and assorted computer software items. The estimated loss is $3,460.

Jan. 17, A complainant from the 7500 block of Sunny Lane in The Plains reported a burglary with theft of eight firearms. The estimated loss is $2,550.


Grand Larceny Charged

A woman from The Plains was arrested and charged with grand larceny Jan. 17.

According to Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, Ashley M. Presgraves, 19, was arrested and charged with the offense in connection with a larceny reported that day.

A caller from the 7100 block of Buckingham Court, Warrenton, reported the theft of a 14 karat diamond ring worth approximately $10,000.


Man Cited for Setting off Rocket

Ian Warfield, 26, of Arlington, received a summons for setting off an illegal rocket in the Town of Warrenton Jan. 17, police said.

According to Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak, Warfield was launching a model rocket when it malfunctioned and ignited approximately one acre of grass. The incident occurred on the soccer fields at the Warrenton Aquatic Facility.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze.


Two Injured in Wreck

Two people reportedly sustained minor injuries in a motor vehicle accident Jan. 13.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened on U.S. 17 [Marsh Road] near Coffman Circle.

Russell Edgar Deloach, 61, of Metter, Ga., was driving a 2002 International tractor south on Marsh Road and Jo Ann Ingalls Fitchett, 53, of Prince George was driving a 2006 Acura going in the same direction, police said. Fitchett allegedly hit the tractor as she was trying to change lanes.

Deloach was uninjured and Fitchett did not have any visible signs of injury but complained of pain. A passenger from Fitchett's vehicle was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report.
