Property Damage ReportedA complainant from the 9700 block of James Madison Highway reported damage to private property Feb. 9, police said.
According to police records, the caller said a chain link fence was damaged. The estimated loss is $1,000.
Thefts Investigated
Three larcenies reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week remain under investigation.
The details provided in police records are as follows:
— Feb. 9, Someone from the 11400 block of Marsh Road, Bealeton, reported the theft of four western saddles. The estimated loss is $7,500.
— Feb. 10, A caller from the 4100 block of Whiting Road near Marshall reported the theft of two 450-gallon oil tanks. The estimated loss is $900.
— Feb. 12, A complainant from the 300 block of Hospital Drive in Warrenton reported the theft of a Dell laptop computer. The estimated loss is $1,845.
Burglary Investigated
A commercial burglary reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Feb. 10 remains under investigation.
Police records indicate someone from the 10200 block of Fayettesveille Road, Bealeton, reported the incident, which included the theft of a grandfather clock. The estimated loss is $3,240.
Woman Evacuated from Smoky Apartment
Warrenton police officers who responded to Warrenton Manor Apartments shortly after midnight Feb. 15 reportedly rescued a woman from a smoky room before firefighters arrived.
The officers responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding and got to the location before fire and rescue personnel.
According to Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak, the officers arrived to find residents outside the building and “a lot of smoke” inside. Sgt. Tom Kamerer located the source of smoke in one of the apartments and found the victim semi-conscious on the floor, Novak added. Kamerer and another officer were able to bring her outside and she was taken to the emergency room. She was reportedly treated for minor smoke inhalation and released from the hospital.
Residents were allowed to return to their apartments after members of the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department (Co. 1) vented the building, Novak added.
Minor Injuries Reported in Wreck
An Amissville man reportedly sustained minor injuries in a motor vehicle accident Feb. 9.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened in the area of Rogues Road and Academic Avenue at approximately 12:49 p.m.
Clifford Waldron, 67, was driving a 2006 GMC Econo Van southbound on Rogues Road when he ran off the right shoulder and lost control of the vehicle, according to the report. The van hit a mailbox and utility pole before stopping.
Another vehicle, driven by Ronda Emmons Clement, 46, of Warrenton, was damaged after being hit by rocks during the accident, police said.
Waldron did not have any visible injuries but complained of pain and was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel. He was not charged in connection with the incident.
Cell Phone Implicated in Crash
Police said Rebecca Joy Willoughby, 22, of Amissville, was charged with failure to control a vehicle after she was involved in a motor vehicle accident Feb. 11.
A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates the crash happened in the 5000 block of Lee Highway (U.S. 29) near Beverly's Mill Road.
Willoughby, who was driving a 1999 Mercedes CLR 320, allegedly told police she was driving while “messing around on [her] cell phone.” Police said she also told them that when she looked up, traffic was stopped and she ran into the back of another vehicle driven by Robert Glenn Brooks, 31, of Haymarket.
Two passengers in Willoughby's vehicle were taken to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report. Brooks was uninjured.
