Flu's Reach Is Widespread in Virginia
Fauquier County residents who've come down with the flu recently are not alone.According to health experts, the respiratory illness — which is most likely to occur in Virginia from October through May — is now considered to be widespread in the state.
Dr. Jorge Minera of Piedmont Family Practice in Warrenton said physicians there have seen an increase in confirmed influenza cases over the last couple of weeks.
“On average, we've had three to five confirmed cases over the past couple of weeks, including some in people who've had a [flu] shot,” Minera said.
Patients who've already been immunized have had milder symptoms than those who haven't, he added.
