Two Hurt in Motorcycle CrashTwo Manassas teens were hurt when they wrecked their motorcycles on Catlett Road Feb. 1, police said.
Virginia State Trooper Christopher Wyrick is assigned to the Area 12 Office in Warrenton. He conducted the accident investigation and said no charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
The accident happened at approximately 4 p.m., when the motorcyclists came around a curve in the roadway, Wyrick said. One of the riders hit a car driven by Betty Diggs, 72, of Midland and stopped at the point of impact. The other rider just grazed the vehicle and continued on before the motorcycle went down, the trooper added.
One of the riders was 17. The other was Tyler Brown, who is 18 years old. Both were transported to the hospital, according to Wyrick.
Trailer Stolen
The theft of a trailer worth almost $4,000 remains under investigation.
According to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, the complainant reported the theft of the Pond trailer Feb. 2. The estimated loss is $3,800.
Operating Uninsured Vehicle Charged
A Falls Church man was charged with driving an uninsured motor vehicle after he was involved in a car crash Feb. 2, police said.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened at approximately 1:51 p.m., in the area of Bull Run Mountain Road and Landmark Road.
Walter Emmett Bennet, 24, was reportedly driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound on Bull Run Mountain Road, while Patricia Ann Curtis, 58, of The Plains, was driving a 2003 Jeep Wrangler westbound on the narrow gravel road.
Curtis saw Bennett approaching and pulled over to the right. Bennett apparently thought he had enough room to pass on his right, but realized that wasn't the case as he got closer. As he applied the brakes, Bennett's vehicle skidded to the left, hitting the front end of Curtis' Jeep, police said. Both vehicles sustained front-end damage.
Curtis was visibly injured but was not transported to the hospital, police said. Bennett did not have any visible signs of injury and was not transported, however two passengers in his vehicles reportedly sustained minor injuries.
Fraud Reported
Police said a fraud case reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Feb. 4 remains under investigation.
A caller from the 2500 block of Landmark School Road in The Plains reported an incident involving credit card fraud, according to police records. The estimated loss is $1,869.
Backhoe Catches Fire
Fauquier County deputies responded to a report of a heavy equipment fire Feb. 5.
A police report indicate someone from the 2000 block of Aquia Road near Midland alerted authorities about the blaze, which involved a Komatsu PC200LC backhoe. The cause of the fire was mechanical, police said. The estimated loss is $85,000.
Burglary Investigated
A burglary reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Feb. 8 remains under investigation, police said.
According to police records, a complainant from the 7200 block of Mosby Drive in Warrenton reported the residential burglary with theft of unspecified items. The estimated loss is $9,542.
