Fees Set to Rise in 2010

Although they'll soon be charging more for inspections, Warrenton officials who are implementing the town's new fire prevention program say safety's the bottom line.

“This program allows each merchant to safeguard his investment and protect his customers,” said Chris Mothersead, the town's director of planning and community development. “Passing an inspection will also give them the best chance of reducing their insurance rates — so there's a potential payback there,” he added.

The Town Council adopted new fire inspection fees as part of the budget for the 2009 fiscal year in order to “update what we were doing [in the past],” Mothersead explained.
