Warrenton Woman Hurt in CrashA Warrenton woman was reportedly injured in a motor vehicle accident after she fell asleep while driving April 17.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the single-vehicle crash happened in the 11800 block of U.S. 17 (Marsh Road) near Ritchie Road at approximately 6:20 a.m.
Amy Lynn Todd, 26, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on U.S. 17 when she apparently fell asleep. Her car went off the right side of the road where it traveled approximately 125 feet along a ditch and hit a culvert pipe. The Cavalier went airborne and struck a mailbox on the other side of the driveway. It then began to flip end over end, causing the engine to come out of the engine compartment, according to the report.
Police found the engine approximately 50 feet from where the vehicle finally came to a stop. Todd, who was also ejected from the vehicle, was on the ground near the driver's side of the vehicle when first-responders found her.
She was reportedly airlifted to a Fairfax hospital.
The car sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.
Fraud Reported
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of fraud April 15.
Police records show a complainant from the 3500 block of Catlett Road, Catlett, reported the incident, which involved obtaining money from a savings account by false pretenses. The estimated loss in the case is $900 and the investigation continues.
Theft Investigated
The theft of heavy equipment from a Marshall address remains under investigation.
According to a police report, someone from the 4800 block of Carters Run Road reported the theft of the New Holland skid loader and New Holland quick hook to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office April 15.
The estimated loss is $28,000.
Two Charged in Crash
No one was hurt, but two motorists involved in a multi-car crash April 13 were charged with following too closely, police said.
A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates the wreck happened on James Madison Highway near Lord Fairfax Drive at approximately 5:38 p.m.
Uchenna Ezenewa Ahhaaghdu, 32, of Bealeton, was driving a 2008 Honda Accord when he slowed down for a traffic light. As he did so, a 2004 Volkswagen driven by Leighia Sue Waldman, 46, of Madison, hit his vehicle from behind. A 2003 Ford F-150 driven by Timothy Annand McCurdy, 20, of Madison, then hit Waldman's vehicle from behind.
Waldman and McCurdy were each charged with following too closely, according to the report.
