LHS Boys Tennis End Frustration vs. FHS
Are you a history of local high school sports?
Then you know Fauquier had always had Liberty's number in boys tennis.
That was until March 25 when the Eagles beat the Falcons, 5-4, in one of the first victories (and perhaps the only victory) by the LHS boys tennis team over FHS. The stunner left undefeated Liberty (6-0) tied with Loudoun Valley for first place in the Cedar Run District ahead of FHS (5-1).
“I think all the guys are pretty excited. The past two years we've not had a great record. Winning has motivated everybody to play better,” said new coach Gabe Zakkak.

“Our goal is to win the district. It was not our goal originally but we were able to win some early on, and that's set the tone,” said Zakkak.
The historic triumph over FHS on a chilly day in Warrenton went down to the final match.
Liberty got singles wins from Josh Rinker at No. 2, Chris Brown at No. 3 and Riley Little at No. 6, and took two of the three doubles matches.
A win by Liberty's No. 1 doubles team of Kyle Tobin and Rinker put all the pressure on the Eagles' No, 3 unit of Walker Riley and Tyler Johnson, who earned a 10-7 victory.
“Everyone was hanging around looking through the fence. We were freezing cold and we were nervous,” said Zakkak...
