Alternative Support Group Plans Inaugural Meeting
Alternative Support Group Plans Inaugural MeetingBy Bill Walsh

There's the Chamber of Commerce. Depending on gender, the Fauquier Business and Professional Women is a viable alternative. Service clubs abound, and while community contribution is their central goal, there are plenty of opportunities for business networking. Marshall has an association, southern Fauquier has an active group. Realtors have an association, and so do lawyers and many other professionals.
Beginning later this month, local entrepreneurs have another opportunity to combine business and social interconnection with the proposed launch of a Fauquier chapter of the Holistic Entrepreneur Alliance, which has scheduled an organizational meeting at 7 p.m. on April 22.
The meeting will take place in the Blue Ridge Immigration Law Center, 9 North Third Street, Warrenton.
Launching a local chapter of the alliance is the brainchild of Diane Haworth, proprietor of Foxfire Consulting in the same office building.
While this and subsequent local meetings of the Holistic Entrepreneur Alliance will be most attractive, perhaps, to those in alternative practices, “if you operate your business in a holistic manner — using a win/win approach that seeks the good of all while opening to abundance," according to the HEA Web site (www.holisticentrepreneurs.net), "you are welcome.”
While the alliance was initially formed "as a way for single [holistic] practitioners to have a network of support, all kinds of people look at things holistically," these days, Haworth said last week.
In the Springfield chapter whose meetings she has been attending, a lot of the participants are alterrnative practitioners, but not all, including a photographer and several real estate professionals.
That said, the meetings are attractive to "people with a certain metaphysical bent," Haworth said.
"Anyone who really embraces the idea of mind, body, spirit, who takes an integrated approach to whatever they do is welcome," Haworth said. "Try it; if you like it, great. If you don't, then it's just not for you. One of the cool things about Fauquier County is that there is a lot of diversity, there are lots of things to try and lots of wonderful groups. You just need to find what's right for you."
