Goldvein This Week: Enter cars now for Jubilee show

I hope each of you enjoyed the long Labor Day weekend. A big thank you to all of those who don't get the holidays off: the police, firefighters, doctors, nurses and all of the other people who have important jobs that benefit our community. Thanks for all you do.

Late birthday wishes go out this week to Dan Maine and Jason Mullins, who celebrated their birthdays on Aug. 31. Somehow, I missed them last week.

This week, Samuel Massey and Lauren Massey will celebrating their special day. Many happy returns to you all.

Grove Baptist Church will begin its AWANA program 5:45-7:15 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 7. Children in the community from age two through fifth grade are invited to come out and join the fun. The theme this week is "water fun," so everyone should bring their beach towels. For more information, call the church at (540) 752-5806.

The Goldvein Jubilee is quickly approaching (Sept. 13) and a good time will be had by all. The car show will begin at 2 p.m. Anyone interested in showing their car can register by visiting http://fastlink.fauquiercounty.gov or mail in a registration form which can be found in the "Good Times" publication.

For more details, call the park at (540) 752-5330.

The parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. and live entertainment will follow, along with a petting zoo, games, door prizes, silent auction, gold panning, face painting, and delicious food. Come on out and support the park and the Goldvein Fire Department.

The Sumerduck Ruritan Club will be having a fish fry 5-8 p.m. Sept. 20. All-you-can-eat fried ocean perch, cole slaw, applesauce, cornbread, iced tea and coffee. The price is $8 for adults and $3 for children. Call Jay at (540) 439-8225 for more details.

Have a great week.
