Police and court briefs
Larcenies investigatedThe Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received reports of six larcenies last week. According to police reports, the details are as follows:
— Nov. 3, someone from the 5000 block of Fairview Lane in Broad Run reported the theft of a Dell laptop computer. The estimated loss in the case is $2,000 and an investigation is ongoing.
— Nov. 3, a caller from the 8300 block of Opal Road in Warrenton reported the theft of a Magnavox 42-inch flat-screen television. The estimated loss in the case is $1,100 and an investigation is ongoing.
— Nov. 4, someone from the 6500 block of Commerce Court in Warrenton reported the theft of a Sony television. The item was worth approximately $875 and an investigation is ongoing.
— Nov. 4, a caller from the 3700 block of Osborne Drive in Warrenton reported the theft of an Ipod, XM satellite radio and a GPS unit from a motor vehicle. The estimated loss is $500 and the investigation is ongoing.
— Nov. 5, a complainant from the 6400 block of Abington Place in Warrenton reported a theft of diamond earrings, a diamond necklace and a diamond bracelet from a building. The items were worth approximately $2,400 and an investigation is ongoing.
Destruction of property
A complainant from the 6100 block of Buck Court in Warrenton reported damaged property to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Nov. 3.
According to police reports, the caller said a 2002 Ford Expedition was damaged. The estimated loss is $600.
Fraud reported
Someone from the 14000 block of Raymond Drive in Sumerduck reported an incident involving unspecified fraud to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Nov. 3. The estimated loss in the case is $4,890.
Motor vehicle theft
Someone from 3000 block of Meadow Bank Lane in Delaplane reported a motor vehicle theft to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Nov. 3.
Police reports indicate a 1988 Chevrolet Corvette was reported stolen. The estimated loss is $6,000 and an investigation is ongoing.
Teen charged in wreck
A 17-year-old Bealeton girl was charge with failure to yield the right of way after she was involved in a minor motor vehicle accident Nov. 3, police said.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened in the vicinity of James Madison Highway [U.S. 29] and Covingtons Corner Road at approximately 7:38 p.m. Tammy Brenna Roach, 28, of Bealeton, was driving a 2005 Toyota northbound on U.S. 29 when she hit the rear passenger side of the teen's car, police said.
The teen was reportedly traveling east on Covingtons Corner Road and crossing over U.S. 29 when the wreck occurred.
“According to all parties involved and an independent witness, Vehicle 1 never stopped in the crossover prior to entering James Madison Highway,” the report states.
Both drivers complained of pain but neither was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Failure to yield charged
A Catlett man was charged with failure to yield the right of way after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident Nov. 4, police said.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened at the intersection of Meetze Road and Old Auburn Road at approximately 11:45 a.m.
John Robert Kukrak Jr., 26, of Stafford, was driving a 1995 Ford dump truck southbound on Meetze Road when a 1997 Subaru Legacy driven by Benjamin Robert Eastman, 19, allegedly entered the highway in front of him.
Kukrak could not stop and hit the smaller car causing damage to both vehicles, police said.
Both drivers complained of pain but neither was transported to the hospital by EMS.
