Family Life Education curriculum: "Choosing the Best," the Family Life Education curriculum under consideration for adoption by Fauquier County Public Schools, will be available for public review from Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, June 6, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Central Complex, 430 East Shirley Ave. in Warrenton, next to Taylor Middle School. A Family Life Education Committee selected the proposed curriculum materials for grades 6-10, along with parent materials. Yearbooks: The 2007-2008 Edition of the Grace Miller Elementary School Yearbook is on sale now. Order forms have been sent home with students. If you have not returned your child's yearbook order form, there is still time. Yearbooks will be distributed first to those students who have turned in order forms and payment. Remaining yearbooks will be for sale on a first come, first serve basis until all yearbooks are sold. The cost is $17 per yearbook. Special thanks to staff member Nancy May for another year of outstanding work on the yearbook. The staff and students appreciate all the time and effort she puts into this project.
Field Days: Grades K-2 will be holding their field day (in the morning only) on Tuesday, June 3; Grades 3-5 will hold their field day (in the morning only) on Wednesday, June 4. International Heritage Night: Grace Miller is proud to announce its Second Annual International Heritage Night to be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, June 5. Students and their families are invited to participate in this wonderful community event where we gather to share one another's diverse backgrounds and heritages. The theme this year for the event is "We are the World, We are the Children." Clinic news: Please remember to pick up all medicines in the clinic before the last day of school. Any unclaimed medications will be discarded at the end of the school year.

The new NJHS officers for the 2008/09 school year are Andrew Warzinski, president; Sophie Byvik, vice president; Mattie Reynolds, secretary; Courtney Maskell, treasurer; Kirsten Croffort, reporter; and Michelle McClanahan, parliamentarian.
The Drama Club will be performing "Check, Please" by Jonathan Rand, "Next!" by Rand Higbee, and "Testing 1,2,3" by Robert Mattson at 7 p.m. Friday, May 30.
Football tryouts will be Monday, Aug. 11. Students trying out must have a completed Virginia High School League Physical Form. These forms are available at Taylor or on line from the TMS Athletic website.
Girls basketball tryouts will be Monday, August 18. Students trying out must have a completed Virginia High School League Physical Form.

Fauquier High
The FHS Chamber Orchestra will present their spring concert at 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, in the Addison Lightfoot Auditorium. Selections will include music by Bach, Glinka, a fantasy on Civil War songs, an original composition by Warrenton resident Virginia Palmer-Fuechsel, and a medley of songs from James Bond movies. Admission is free.
Did you know that one in three children in the US is overweight or worse? Be a good role model for your children. Begin a life-changing fitness program at The Weight Room and Wellness Center at Fauquier High School. Drop in any weekday from 3-8 p.m. and/or Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon. While there, pick up a brochure that includes tips about exercising and other pertinent information about using the Weight Room or call Coach Pulchine (C.S.C.S.) at (540) 347-7501 anytime during these hours. The cost of participating in this program is only $40 per 10-week-session. Retirees are invited to join the "Silver Circuit" weight training program. This program helps maintain bone density and muscle tone, thereby allowing individuals to continue enjoying their active lifestyles. Cardiovascular health, stamina, flexibility and balance are also addressed.
Summer hours for all participants will begin June 23. The Weight Room will be open 9 a.m.-noon and 1:30-8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays.
Senior exams will take place on Tuesday June 3, and Wednesday, June 4.
Yearbook distribution will take place in the cafeteria on from 2:30-4 p.m. June 3 and 4.
Graduation will be held on Falcon Field at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 7.
SATs will take place on Saturday, June 7, at Warrenton Middle School. Doors open at 8 a.m.
Tuesday, June 10, and Wednesday, June 11, are half-days for underclassman exams.
The last day of school is Wednesday, June 11.
