Investigation of fatal wreck ongoing

Virginia State Police said on Monday they are still investigating a traffic accident that claimed a Bealeton teenager's life over the weekend.

1st Sgt. Matt Hanley of the Area 12 Office in Warrenton said Rue McGee III, 19, died as a result of a wreck on Beaver Lodge Road near the Stafford County line. The crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

McGee was driving a 1996 Ford F-250 pickup truck when he entered a corner and somehow lost control, Hanley said. The pickup truck went off the left side of the road, where it hit a utility pole and a tree.

McGee's pickup truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash, Hanley said.


Motor vehicle stolen

A caller from the 8400 block of Silver Ghost Lane reported the theft of a 2002 Buick to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office May 13. An investigation is ongoing.


Larcenies investigated

Two larcenies reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week remain under investigation.

Police records indicate the first incident happened in the 7300 block of Cedar Run Drive in Warrenton May 13. Passenger and driver's side door assemblies were reportedly stolen. The items were reportedly worth $4,200.

Someone from the 7500 block of Oak Grove Road, Marshall, reported the theft of weed trimmers, various tools and two chainsaws on May 16. The tools were worth approximately $1,640.


Fraud reported

The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received two reports of fraud May 14.

In the first case, a deputy took a report in the 70 block of West Lee Street, Warrenton. The complainant reported check fraud with an estimated loss of $500.

A caller from the 7400 block of Opal Road in Warrenton also reported Internet fraud that day. The estimated loss in that case was about $2,383.

Investigations in both cases are ongoing.


Warrenton man charged with cruelty to animals

A Warrenton man was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals after he allegedly shot and killed his own dog May 18.

Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said Nathan David Hileman, 27, was arrested and charged with the offense after he shot his Australian heeler with a .22.

Hileman was also charged with reckless handling of a firearm and being drunk in public.

The reason for the shooting is unknown, Mercer said.

Hileman was taken before a magistrate and initially held on $8,0000 bond.


Warrenton woman charged in parking lot crash

A Warrenton woman was charged with reckless driving after she hit three pedestrians in a municipal parking lot in Old Town on May 17, police said.

Warrenton Police Sgt. George W. Southard Jr. said the accident happened in Municipal Lot A in Old Town Warrenton at approximately 2 p.m.

Eileen Galecki, 56, was trying to back a 2001 Hyundai into a parking spot when her foot slipped off of the brake onto the accelerator, Southard said. She hit a parked car and three people who were walking through the parking spot, the sergeant added.

Two people were reportedly transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.


One hurt, one charged in three-car wreck

Linda E. Bailey, 59, of Reva, was charged with driving a vehicle with faulty brakes and failure to maintain control of a vehicle after she was involved in a three car wreck on U.S. 29, police said.

The wreck happened just before 9:30 a.m. May 12.

According to an accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy, Bailey was driving a 2006 Subaru Outback northbound when she hit a 2006 Honda Sonata GL driven by Warren C. Foster of Bloomfield, Conn.

Foster had been trying to turn onto Lover's Lane. Upon impact, Foster's vehicle went into a ditch north of the crossover, police said.

Quanisha Renee Raven, 21, of Casselberry, Fla., who was driving in the northbound lane rear-ended Bailey's vehicle about one mile north of the original accident scene, according to the report.

Raven was injured, but not transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.


Motorist injured in collision with tree

A Warrenton man was hurt when the car he was driving hit a tree May 12, police said.

The wreck happened in the 9300 block of Crest Hill Road at approximately 1:25 a.m.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, Jason Allen Kuvakas 20, was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus westbound when he ran into the tree, which had been toppled by a storm. The tree was across both lanes of the road, according to the report.

Kuvakas was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

His car sustained approximately $3,000 in damages.


One hurt in motorcycle wreck

An Amissville man was hurt when the motorcycle he was riding hit a deer in the 6400 block of Leeds Manor Road May 13, police said.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened just before 6 a.m. Robert William Mercer II, 55, was driving a 2007 Honda Shadow southbound on Leeds Manor Road when he hit a deer that was crossing the road from the east.

Mercer was injured, but not taken to the hospital by ambulance.


No serious injuries in wreck

A Keswick woman was reportedly hurt in a two-car crash May 13.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Catlett Road at approximately 3:09 p.m. An accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy indicates a 17-year-old Catlett boy was driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla when he hit another car from behind.

The other driver, Donna Marie Anderson, 51, was injured, but did not require transport to the hospital by EMS personnel.


Failure to yield the right of way

Police said a 17-year-old Catlett boy was charged with failure to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled T- intersection after he was involved in a car crash May 14.

A Fauquier County deputy's accident report indicates the crash happened at the intersection of Catlett Road and Station Drive at approximately 6:52 a.m.

The teen was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry when he stopped at the intersection of Catlett Road and Station Drive and then drove into the side of another vehicle, causing it to flip over, according to the report.

The 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by Ranger K. Cutright, 42, of Stafford, reportedly sustained $10,000 in damages.

Two people were transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.
