Ray Graham claimed an impeccable, animal friendly driving record until last week, when he struck a cow, a pigeon and a deer.

Not since his undergraduate days at George Washington University in the late 1960s, had he been party to a car collision of any sort while behind the wheel.

But his 40-year, accident-free streak ended at about 10 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, after he rammed a 500-pound, black-as-night heifer along a stretch of Elk Run Road, less than a mile south of Catlett.

The Cedar Run District supervisor had been on his way home from a Republican Party meeting at Vint Hill, near New Baltimore, when he struck the dairy cow.
