Police, fire and rescue personnel 'flooded' with calls

According to police and fire officials, the storm that swept through Fauquier County over the weekend and early Monday didn't spawn any tornadoes. But it still left a mess in its wake.
Darren Stevens, assistant chief of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, said fire and rescue personnel responded to approximately 40 calls for service between 6 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday.
Three of those calls were from motorists who were stranded trying to cross flooded county roads. The rest were for flooded basements and downed trees and wires, Stevens said.
Virginia state troopers and Fauquier County deputies also responded to numerous reports of minor motor vehicle accidents due to the weather.
