Catlett: Donate blood next Wednesday
Congratulations to Christina and Michael Day upon the arrival of their first child, daughter Allyson Christina, born Thursday, May 8. She is the first great-grandchild of Barbara and Turner Alan Day of Calverton. Barbara's birthday was May 9 and their 50th wedding anniversary was May 10. They celebrated their special day with a simple family anniversary party.
Also, congratulations to Teresa Edwards upon the completion of her studies at Heritage Institute in Manassas and receiving her medical associate's degree. She will begin employment with Wal-Mart in the optical department in Manassas.
Mary Catherine and Tom Samuel just returned from a 15-day cruise. They began their trip in Miami, Fla., going through Grand Cayman, and making several stops in Mexico. Mary said the most interesting place they visited was the Panama Canal. They ended the cruise in San Diego, Calif., flying home just in time to get ready for the graduation of their granddaughter, Jacinda Hays, from Liberty University, in Lynchburg, Va. There were just fewer than 5,000 students in this class and all enjoyed the speaker, Chuck Norris, aka Cordell Walker, Texas Ranger. Jacinda is the daughter of Carol and Scott Moyer of Locust Grove, Va.
Warren and I kept four of our great-grandchildren last weekend for their mother to attend a seminar for her home-based business. While they were here, we visited H.M. Pearson so Wesley could see his fourth-grade teachers. We were invited to attend the school play "Nightingale" that morning. It was a very colorful play, lots of bright reds and gold, and we thought it a privilege to watch those young people perform in both speaking and singing parts in such a professional manner. Learning that Wesley's homeroom teacher is now teaching at Bradley Elementary School in Warrenton, we drove up to visit with her. Wesley has e-mailed that he was so happy to go back to Pearson and see everyone there and also visit Mrs. Weigel at Bradley.
Colin Hall celebrated his first birthday on Sunday, May 11. He is the son of Becky and Tom Hall.
