Goldvein: Unique Mother's Day planned

I spent last weekend in D.C. participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, along with 4,000 new friends.

Although my feet are sore, my heart was warmed by the friendly walkers and crew, from hearing inspirational stories, and learning about all the great causes that the Avon Walk supports.

Others from our area that participated were Ginger McGuire, Laura New and Shelley Martin.

Birthday wishes go out this week to Grace Curry, Bradie Henning and Gilmer Way. Happy birthday to you all.

In celebration of Mother's Day, pastor Hae Rin Lawson of Morrisville United Methodist Church welcomes her mother, Bok Sue Hylon, to the pulpit. The Farmer's Market at Monroe Park is set to run May through October. The cost is only $20 for the entire season to sell locally grown produce. Unfortunately, only one person has voiced an interest so far.

Coming up this weekend, Fauquier High School will present "Thoroughly Modern Millie" on May 9 and 10 at the Addison Lightfoot Auditorium. This 2002 musical set in the 1920s, based on a movie from the '60s, and it feels like it's been around since the '50s.

It has a classic Broadway musical feel, according to director Kevin Mettinger. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7.50 for students or seniors. Tickets can be purchased online at www.fhstheatre.org or at the door. This comedy is rated PG and suitable for all ages. Call Kevin at (540) 347-6100, ext. 2317.
