I-64 shootings force several Highland postponements

A shooting spree on Virginia Interstate 64 near Charlottesville yesterday forced authorities to close a long stretch of the highway for several hours.

As a result, multiple Highland sports events had to be postponed.

The boys varsity tennis team (scheduled to compete at Fredericksburg Academy), the girls softball team (at St. Anne's Belfield) and the girls middle school lacrosse game (vs. Tandem Friends) were all wiped out due to travel and safety concerns.

All three matchups are expected to be rescheduled in the near future.
