Warrenton Hunt Point-to-Point set Saturday
Any questions about the relative strength of steeplechasing were answered at entry time for this Saturday's Warrenton Hunt Point-to-Point. Nine carded races could split into as many as 15 with overflowing entries across the board.Seventeen are entered in the maiden hurdle, 15 in the newly created "restricted" maiden hurdle (for first-season horses,) 12 in the novice timber and 21 in the novice rider flat.
Post time is 12:30 p.m. at the Airlie racecourse north of Warrenton.
The featured Warrenton Hunt Cup attracted nine, headed by Rappahannock winner Barzulu and sanctioned winners Move West and Straight Path from the strong Strawbridge family contingent in Pennsylvania's steeplechase country.
Other races on the program include owner-rider and foxhunters timber (which could, as at Blue Ridge last week, be combined,) amateur and open hurdles, novice timber, novice rider flat and the $2,000 Virginia-bred flat.
Airlie is located just off of U.S. Route 17 north of Warrenton. Admission options include hillside parking spaces to individual passes.
