Shannon Auto Sales opens Warrenton location

Dave Reynolds, the manager at Shannon Auto Sales in Warrenton, has seen the effects of surging fuel prices on business before.

"The last time the gas prices went up, a lot of people who had sports utility vehicles and pickup trucks got smaller cars," said Reynolds, who has been with Shannon Auto Sales for 15 years. "Within a couple of months, they'd come back and say, 'I hate this.'"

Mike and Mark Harris, twin brothers who co-own the used car dealership, agreed there is still a demand for large vehicles.

For some people with several children, a larger vehicle is a matter of necessity. Others simply enjoy the comfort and luxury that larger sports utility vehicles, such as Cadillac Escalades or Ford Expeditions provide.

"People are still buying them," Mark Harris said.

Accordingly, there are plenty of pickup trucks and SUVs at the dealership, which is located on Broadview Avenue. But there are a couple of Ford Mustangs, too.

"We try to carry everything you can imagine," Mike Harris said.
