Larceny investigated

A theft of assorted jewelry reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office July 14 remains under investigation.

Police records indicate someone from the 8500 block of Springs Road near Warrenton reported a theft from a building. The estimated loss in the case is $5,500.


Fraud reported

Fauquier County detectives are investigating three cases of fraud reported to the Sheriff's Office July 14-16.

In the first case, a caller from the 7200 block of Hastings Lane, Warrenton, reported credit card fraud. The estimated loss is $400.

A complainant from the 11100 block of Bears Den Road in Marshall also reported credit card fraud. The estimated loss in the case is $6,000.

In the third case, someone from the 5800 block of Ridgecrest Avenue, Warrenton, reported fraud involving money wired somewhere for an unspecified item. The estimated loss in the case is $5,800.

A caller from the 6500 block of Sumerduck Road near Remington also reported an incident involving unauthorized purchases on a credit card July 17. The estimated loss is $1,000.


ATVs, dirt bike stolen

The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received two reports of stolen ATVs and a dirt bike last week.

According to police records, someone from the 4100 block of Zulla Road in The Plains reported the theft of a 2002 Suzuki ATV July 15. It was worth approximately $3,500 and the incident is under investigation.

Someone from the 12400 block of Strodes Mill Road in Remington reported the theft of a 2005 Yamaha 90 ATV and an unspecified type of dirt bike July 18 and July 19. The vehicles were reportedly worth $2,000 and the investigation continues.


Tools taken

A caller from the 3000 block of Delaplane Grade Road in Delaplane reported a larceny from a motor vehicle to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office July 16.

Police records indicate assorted tools were stolen from the vehicle. The items were reportedly worth approximately $3,100. An investigation is ongoing.


Property damaged

A caller from the 7200 block of Forest Road in Warrenton reported property damage to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office July 18.

According to police records, the complainant reported damage to a brick wall with an estimated loss of $10,000.


Deer killed in crash

Michelle Hooper, 41, of Barboursville, reportedly sustained minor injuries when she hit a deer July 14.

The accident happened on U.S. 29 (James Madison Highway) near Covingtons Corner Road in Bealeton at approximately 3:52 p.m.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's accident report, Hooper was driving a Chrysler Town and Country minivan southbound when a deer came into the roadway. The minivan sustained damage to the front end in the collision, police said. The deer did not survive.

Hooper was not transported to the hospital by EMS, according to the report.


Insect allegedly causes wreck

A Midland man was involved in a car crash after an insect flew into his car and hit him in the eye, police said.

The wreck happened in the 10300 block of Green Road south of Warrenton at approximately 5:38 p.m. July 14.

According to an accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy, Jeffrey James Hudson, 26, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen westbound on Green Road when the insect entered the vehicle and hit him in the eye. Hudson's car went off the left side of the road and hit a tree, according to the report.

Police said Hudson wasn't hurt in the crash.


One injured in two-car crash

A Middleburg woman was hurt in a motor vehicle accident July 17, police said.

The wreck happened in the 10200 block of Jacksonville Road near Warrenton at approximately 4:30 p.m.

In the accident report, a Fauquier County deputy said Iretha Jeanette Creaves, 52, of Middleburg was driving a 2004 Mini when she crossed over the center line and hit a 2008 GMC Sierra head-on.

Douglas Neal McCately, 53, of Silver Spring, Md., was not injured in the collision, according to the report. Creaves was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.


Truck driver hurt in wreck

A tractor trailer driver was reportedly hurt when his rig went off the road July 18.

The wreck happened on U.S. 29 [James Madison Highway] near Fayettsville Road at approximately 6;47 p.m.

In an accident report, a Fauquier County deputy said Mark Wilson Fritts, 50, of High Point, N.C., was driving a 2005 Freightliner south on U.S. 29 when it went off the left side of the road into an embankment. The truck then tipped onto its side, resulting in roughly $9,000 in damages.

Fritts was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.


Warrenton woman charged with DUI in wreck

Police said a Warrenton woman was charged with DUI after she was involved in a five-car accident July 19

The wreck happened near the intersection of U.S. 29 (James Madison Highway) and Opal Road in Opal.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, Sharon Elise Kyle, 44, of Warrenton was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer when she entered the McDonalds parking lot from Opal Road. As she did so, she allegedly hit a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Joshua Chris Childers, 27, of Ashburn.

Police said Kyle's sports utility vehicle accelerated through the parking lot, jumped a curve and sideswiped a 1999 Saturn driven by Alan Lee Burnham, 44, of Rixeyville. Burnham's car, which was parked in the drive through, sustained damage to the entire passenger side.

Kyle's vehicle reportedly kept going, picking up even more speed when it hit a 2001 Ford F-350 driven by Barron Lowell Gray, 23, of Warrenton. The impact pushed Gray's car into a 1998 Honda Accord driven by Terry James Harrison Jr., 26, of Luray, police said.

Gray and a passenger were both injured and transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report. Kyle was also hurt.
