Police Briefs
Several arrested on drug chargesSeveral people were reportedly arrested on drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at a Bealeton residence earlier this month.
Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said deputies from his agency and members of the Blue Ridge Narcotics Task Force executed the warrant at a residence in the 6500 block of Weaver Lane on Feb. 5.
The execution of the warrant stemmed from "an ongoing narcotics investigation," Mercer explained.
He went on to say that the evidence seized from the residence included unspecified quantities of marijuana and cocaine, U.S. currency and "related paraphernalia associated with the distribution of narcotics." Two firearms, one of which had the serial number removed, were also confiscated.
Veronica Tierney, 19, of Bealeton was arrested for possession of marijuana and incarcerated at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $3,000, Mercer said.
He added that Tyrone Menefee, 21, of Bealeton was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana, and incarcerated at the Fauquier County ADC with bond set at $5,000.
Trixy Robinson, 25, of Bealeton was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana, and released on a personal recognizance bond.
Nicolbie Garrett, 31, of Midland; Antonio Menefee, 23 of Midland; and Nathaniel Robinson, 24, of Bealeton, were all charged and released from the residence with a summons for possession of marijuana, the major said.
All are scheduled to appear in Fauquier County General District Court April 3.
Search warrant executed
Police said Fauquier County deputies, members of the Blue Ridge Narcotics Task Force and the Warrenton Police Department's Special Operations Unit recently executed a search warrant in Remington as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
According to Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, the group executed the warrant at a residence in the 300 block of West Washington Street on Feb. 23.
Evidence seized from the residence included marijuana and related paraphernalia, Mercer said. An unspecified number of firearms were also seized, he added.
Derek Gallihugh, 18, of Remington, was reportedly arrested for possession of marijuana and later released on a personal recognizance bond.
Michael Gallihugh, 41, of West Point was released from the scene on a summons for possession of marijuana, Mercer said.
They are both scheduled to appear in Fauquier County General District Court May 8.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending, according to Mercer.
Police seek info in Bealeton robbery
Investigators from the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office are seeking information pertaining to a robbery that happened in Bealeton at approximately 9:40 a.m. Feb. 23.
According to Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m., when an employee of the Advance America Store [located at 11085 Marsh Road] was robbed in a parking lot near the business.
The major said the suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 5-feet, 9-inches tall, who weights about 180 pounds. He has a medium build and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
The suspect reportedly had his sweatshirt hood up and something covering his face.
He allegedly fled on foot through the parking lot of the business with a maroon colored BB&T bank bag, Mercer said. The bag contained an undisclosed amount of currency.
No weapons were displayed.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call Fauquier Detective Todd A. Durica at (540) 347-6870, or the Fauquier County Crime Solvers group at (540) 349-1000.
Search yields negative results
Police said an unannounced, random drug search at Fauquier High School and Marshall Middle School Feb. 25 yielded negative results.
According to Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, deputies used K-9s trained to detect narcotics to search the inside of both schools.
Sheriff Charlie Ray Fox Jr., added that they did not find any narcotics or illegal items at either school.
The Sheriff's Office and Fauquier County Public Schools teamed up to conduct the searches. This type of operation will continue throughout the school year and will include all of the county's public schools.
Fleeing vehicle wrecks
A pursuit that began in Fauquier County Feb. 25 ended when the motorist wrecked his sports utility vehicle in Prince William County, police said.
Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said the incident began at approximately 10:24 p.m., when Fauquier County deputies responded to a domestic situation and possible abduction in the 10400 block of Elk Run Road.
"Before deputies arrived on location, the suspect left the scene in a white Dodge Durango," Mercer said.
As Sgt. R.E. Wines approached the intersection of Catlett Road and Elk Run Road, a vehicle matching that description was turning from Elk Run Road to go north on Catlett Road, the major explained. Wines followed the Durango, attempting to confirm it was the vehicle from the domestic situation, but was reportedly unable to verify that through the victim.
"Sgt. Wines then activated his emergency equipment to stop and identify the operator, but the vehicle sped up refusing to stop and entered Prince William County turning off on several side roads," Mercer said.
Wines continued to follow the vehicle when it attempted a sharp turn onto Balls Ford Road. The operator lost control and wrecked at the 7-11 Store on Balls Ford Road, Mercer said. The operator allegedly fled the scene on foot.
An investigation is ongoing.
Reckless driving charged
Two Warrenton men were charged with reckless driving after they were involved in a motorcycle crash Feb. 18.
Virginia State Police said the wreck happened on Midland Road near Bristersburg Road at approximately 1:55 p.m.
Ryan Shawn Eagle, 25, and Joshua Shane Eagle, 22, both of Warrenton, were both coming around a curve too fast and went off the right side of the road, police said. Joshua Shane Eagle, who was riding a 2004 Yamaha, ran over Ryan Shawn Eagle's arm, police said.
Ryan Shawn Eagle was reportedly transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.
