Wakefield boys earn VIS berth, Highland snubbed
Tomorrow night, the Highland School's boys basketball team could add a DAC Tournament title to its regular season conference crown. But that still wasn't enough to help the Hawks into the Virginia Independent Schools state championship playoffs.
At 15-12 overall, the Hawks missed out of the VIS Division II tournament when the brackets were announced on Sunday.
Wakefield, meanwhile, received better news. The Owls' 18-9 record landed them the 12th seed in next week's Division III state tournament. They will travel to No. 5 Tidewater Academy in next Tuesday's opening round.
Before that, Highland and Wakefield will battle for the DAC Tournament title at Highland, 6 p.m. Monday.
