Suspect in bank robbery sought

Police are reportedly seeking the suspect in the robbery of the Catlett branch of The Fauquier Bank.

According to Maj. Paul Mercer of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. Friday. At that time, an unknown man allegedly entered the bank, which is located in the 3500 block of Catlett Road, and robbed it at gunpoint.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, approximately 6 feet tall, who was wearing a boonie-style camouflage patterned hat, police said. He was also wearing a beige collared shirt, dark pants, dark shoes and light-colored gloves. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, Mercer said.

The suspect fled the bank with an undetermined amount of money.
