Teens arrested on robbery chargesZachary Ryan Wheeler, 18, of Remington and Cody Preston Budd, 19, of Warrenton, were arrested on warrants charging them with robbery Nov. 29, police said.
Maj. Paul Mercer said the arrests stemmed from an incident which occurred the night before. At approximately 10:10 p.m. Nov. 28, deputies responded to the intersection of Tiffany Court and Whipkey Drive on a report of someone who had been beaten up and robbed.
Deputies spoke to the victim, who claimed money had been taken from him. There were indications that the victim had been beaten up and witnesses confirmed his story, Mercer said. Deputies then obtained the felony warrants.
478 citations issued over holiday weekend
State troopers assigned to the Area 12 Office in Warrenton reportedly issued 478 summonses during a special holiday enforcement detail Nov. 26-30.
According to Sgt. Franz Mahler, the troopers issued 276 summonses for speeding; 48 for reckless driving; 40 for other hazardous driving infractions; 11 for seat belt violations, eight for child restraint violations and two for DUI.
Troopers also assisted 44 motorists and worked three traffic crashes involving property damage. They issued 23 summonses for miscellaneous violations, 53 for equipment violations, made four drug arrests and eight criminal arrests.
In a separate DUI enforcement detail on Interstate 66 held Nov. 30, troopers issued 17 citations. Of those, six were for speeding, four were for equipment violations and one was for DUI. The troopers also made two drug arrests and two criminal arrests.
Driving on a revoked or suspended license charged
Police said Lavell Shayron Hart, 31, of Orange, was charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license after she was involved in a motor vehicle accident Nov. 24.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the wreck happened on Catlett Road near Tapp Hollow Lane at approximately 7:50 a.m.
Hart was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer northbound on Catlett Road as she approached a 1995 Mercury Villager driven by Melissa Ann Ross, 31, of Culpeper, police said. She allegedly failed to pay attention to the road and swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid Ross, who was stopped in the turn lane.
Hart's vehicle sideswiped the Villager on the right rear corner, then went off the right side of the road and hit a fence before coming to a stop, police said.
Hart and a passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash, but Ross was unhurt, according to the report.
Five hurt in wreck
Five people were hurt in a two car collision Nov. 24, police said.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the accident happened on Dumfries Road at approximately 6:25 p.m.
Warren C. Collins, 77, of Barre, Mass., was reportedly driving a 1997 Mercury Sable eastbound on Dumfries Road when he crossed the center line as he came over a hill crest. As he did so, he allegedly hit another vehicle driven by Alma Janet Garcia Ortiz, 35, of Catlett. After hitting Ortiz's vehicle in the front left side, Collins' car ran off the right side of the road into a ditch, according to the report.
Collins, a passenger and three juveniles were all transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report.
Collins was charged with failure to drive on the right side of the road.
Warrenton woman charged with DUI
A Warrenton woman was charged with DUI and felony hit and run after she was involved in a car accident Nov. 29, police said.
According to Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak, the accident happed at the intersection of Lee Highway and Blackwell Road at approximately 12:53 a.m.
Another motorist hit Nicole Clegg, 23, after she ran the traffic light at the intersection, Novak said. Clegg allegedly kept driving south on Blackwell Road until she hit the curb prior to Blackwell Park.
When officers arrived, Clegg denied she was driving, but witnesses saw her behind the wheel, Novak said.
In addition to DUI and felony hit and run, Clegg was charged with a felony count of driving on a suspended license. More charges are pending.
