Goldvein This Week: Plan to attend Sept. 13 Jubilee
Congratulations to Sheena Tosta for earning a silver medal in the Olympics last week.
As a former resident of Goldvein, Sheena has made us so proud. Although Sheena now resides in California, her parents and brother still live in Goldvein.
The congregation of Clevers Oak Baptist Church helped to pay the way for the Smilings to travel to Beijing to watch their daughter compete. Way to go, Sheena.
The next Friends of Monroe Park meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. Final plans are being made for the Goldvein Jubilee.
The Goldvein Jubilee will be held Sept. 13, and you do not want to miss it.
All of you who like to sing, dance or entertain can join the "Goldvein Idol" competition. We only have room for 10 contestants so call or e-mail me for the details as soon as possible.
There will be a car show, parade, pony rides, games, silent auction, door prizes, carriage rides, a petting zoo, face painting and great food. If you would like to help out in anyway, call Bob at (540) 752-5330.
The Sumerduck Ruritan Club will be having a fish fry 5-8 p.m. Sept. 20. All-you-can-eat fried ocean perch, cole slaw, applesauce, cornbread, iced tea and coffee. The price is $8 for adults and $3 for children. Call Jay at (540) 439-8225 for more details.
Have a great week.
