Battlefield Baptist Church
Battlefield Baptist, located on U.S. 29 near Vint Hill, was established in 1980. As the founding pastor, Karl G. Skinner of Warrenton has served in the ministry for more than 30 years, and the church will celebrate its 28th anniversary this fall.
The focus of Battlefield Baptist is the family. There are small-group Bible study classes for all ages at 10 a.m. each Sunday. The morning worship service follows at 11 a.m.
Other services include the "Heart and Home" service Sundays at 6 p.m., and a Wednesday night "pick-me-up" service at 7:30 p.m. This midweek Bible study also includes Awana kids' clubs, "Xtreme Vision" Teens, and the Singles Connection. The teens meet in their very own Teen Center, with more than 3,000 square feet decked out in everything teen.
Each service also features Ministerio Hispano.
There are adult, kids and teen choirs, along with an orchestra.
Another major focus of Battlefield Baptist is worldwide missions. Missions Revival, held each September, is the biggest event of the year. The International Festival features some of the nation's largest missions displays. It is a true multicultural experience.
Battlefield supports more than 105 missionaries, giving more than $425,000 to worldwide missions last year.
God continues to bless Battlefield, as more than 45 people have been called into full-time Christian service.
Each winter, Battlefield Baptist also hosts Upward Basketball and Cheerleading. This is a league for boys and girls in grades K-6. Last year's season included more than 400 players and cheerleaders. Registration begins in the fall, and the league runs January through March.
Area students will recognize the "Kyle & Co." puppet team. The team received high praise at each school it visited last year, bringing high-energy character-building programs.
A sampling of upcoming events includes a Men's Picnic and Ladies Night Out. A singles camping trip, ladies retreat, and three summer camps are also planned.
Battlefield is growing. A new 36,000 square foot educational and office building was completed last winter, providing much-needed additional space for classrooms, plus a fellowship hall.
Guests are always welcomed with a warm smile and friendly handshake.
The church is located at 4361 Lee Highway (U.S. 29) between Gainesville and Warrenton, just south of Vint Hill Road (Route 215). For more information, call (540) 347-5855 or visit www.battlefieldbaptist.org.
