Police briefs

Larcenies investigated

Two larcenies reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week remain under investigation.

In the first case, someone allegedly took a 2007 Zero Turn mower from a Harpers Run Road residence Aug. 11. The mower was reportedly worth approximately $6,100.

In the second case, a Wychanger Baron saddle was reportedly stolen from a Chilly Bleak Lane residence in Marshall on Aug. 12. The estimated loss is $2,500.


Fraud reported

Fauquier County detectives are investigating a fraud case reported to the Sheriff's Office Aug. 13.

Police records indicate a complainant from the 7200 block of Baldwin Ridge Road in Warrenton reported asphalt fraud with an estimated loss of $2,500.


Tires slashed

A caller from the 14200 block of Warrenton Road in Goldvein reported an incident involving damaged property to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week.

According to police records, four tires on a 2004 Nissan 350Z were cut. The estimated loss in the case is $1,200.


Theft reported

The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle Aug. 15.

Police records indicate someone from the 7400 block of Waters Place in Warrenton reported the theft of an Apple Ipod, hoop earrings, a ring and a digital camera. The estimated loss is $10,405.

An investigation is ongoing.


Burglar damages house

Fauquier County detectives are investigating a residential burglary reported to the Sheriff's Office Aug. 16.

According to police records, someone from the 14000 block of Ash Lane in Sumerduck reported the incident, which included damage inside the house. The estimated loss is $8,000.


Motorcycle damaged

The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of damaged property Aug. 17.

According to police records, a caller from the 6200 block of Edmonds Court in Sumerduck reported that a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle had been damaged. The estimated loss is $1,800.


Two injured in crash

Two people were reportedly hurt in a single-vehicle accident Aug. 12.

The wreck happened in the area of Brenttown Road and Courthouse Road at approximately 5:49 a.m.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, Jane Terry Bates, 45, of Bealeton, was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla north on Brenttown Road when she ran off the right shoulder and over corrected. Her car went across the roadway where it struck an embankment. The car came to rest back in the roadway.

Bates and a passenger were transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, according to the report.


Pedestrian struck

A 17-year-old Marshall boy was hit by a motor vehicle while trying to cross U.S. 29 on Aug. 12, police said.

According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the incident happened in the area of U.S. 29 and Nordix Drive at approximately 10:10 a.m.

Karla Ann Kolb, 40, of Warrenton, was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer southbound on U.S. 29 and had stopped at the intersection of Nordix Drive, police said. Meanwhile, two pedestrians walked onto the highway as the southbound vehicles received a green light.

One of the pedestrians stopped and did not try to cross the highway, but the second pedestrian attempted to run across the highway and ran in front of Kolb's vehicle, police said.

Kolb hit the teen, but he did not have any visible signs of injury, according to the report.

Kolb's vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 in damages. She was not charged in connection with the incident.


Rider hurt in motorcycle wreck

A Culpeper man was hurt in a motorcycle crash Aug. 16, police said.

The wreck happened in the area of Grove Lane and Ashville Road at approximately 12:52 p.m.

A Fauquier County deputy's report indicates David Alan Glascock, 43, of Culpeper, was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic west on Route 55 when he ran off the right side of the roadway. He apparently lost control of the bike as it went into a slide.

In the meantime, Michael Gary Paul II, 30, of Delaplane was driving a 1999 Honda Accord eastbound on Route 55. Paul attempted to miss the motorcycle, but hit half of it, according to the report.

No one was charged in connection with the crash.
