Goldvein This Week: 'Goldvein Idol' entrants needed
Join me in wishing a happy birthday to Shelia Childress on Aug. 22. She is a survivor and a wonderful friend. Have a great day, Shelia.
School will begin on Monday, so be on the lookout for the big yellow buses. I cannot believe how quickly the summer went by.
Sunday, Aug. 24 is the last official day of summer vacation. Sad for some, happy for others. Join Morrisville United Methodist Church as they celebrate the day in a way all might enjoy.
They will start at 9 a.m. during the worship service with blessings and prayers for the youth, their safety and protection. Immediately following the worship service, they will head outside for a cookout and picnic with some games to follow. Bring a dish to share, your lawn chair and a change of clothes. Everyone is invited. Questions? Call (540) 439-2594.
Mark your calendars for Sept. 13. That is the day of the Goldvein Jubilee, and you do not want to miss it.
All of you who like to sing, dance or entertain can join the "Goldvein Idol" competition. We have room for only 10 contestants so call or e-mail me for the details as soon as possible.
This year, there will be a car show, parade, games, silent auction, door prizes, carriage rides, a petting zoo, face painting and great food. If you would like to help out in any way, call Bob at (540) 752-5330.
The Sumerduck Ruritan Club will be starting up its monthly fish fry in September. Stay tuned for more details next week.
This week's quote is dedicated to all of you travelers out there: "No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow." — Lin Yutang
Have a great week.
