Police briefs
Residential burglary investigatedFauquier County detectives are investigating a residential burglary reported to the Sheriff's Office July 28.
Police records indicate someone stole checks from the home in the 8000 block of Lee Highway near Warrenton. The estimated loss in the case is $3,826.
Brandishing a firearm charged
A Bealeton man was charged with brandishing a firearm July 31, police said.
Maj. Greg Mauck of the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said the charge stemmed from an incident that occurred in the 6300 block of Lee Highway outside Warrenton at approximately 8:30 a.m.
Deputies responded to the area after receiving a complaint of a man with a gun in a silver or gray Jeep Cherokee. They found the vehicle and subsequently located the driver, who was identified as Larry Lee Allen Jr., 24.
Allen had allegedly been brandishing the firearm while driving down the road. The firearm turned out to be a pellet gun, Mauck said.
Allen was also charged with possession of marijuana.
Credit card fraud reported
Someone from the 5600 block of Linden Court near Warrenton reported a case of credit card fraud to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office July 31.
According to police records, the estimated loss in the case is $1,270. An investigation is ongoing.
Reckless driving conviction appealed
A Marshall woman found guilty of reckless driving is appealing the ruling.
According to court records, Susan W. Feeley, 64, was convicted in General District Court Aug. 1.
Court documents also show that a citizen made the criminal complaint against Feeley following an incident in the area of Zulla Road and Rockhill Mill Road in mid-may.
George Christopher Maxwell accused Feeley of reckless driving when the group of bicyclists he was riding with had an "encounter" with her. Specifically, Maxwell alleged that she continually honked her horn at the group and that she had an "exchange" with two of the cyclists.
Afterwards, Maxwell, who had stopped on the side of the road, said Feeley "proceeded toward" him and that she "narrowly avoided" striking him.
A hearing is now set for 9 a.m. Sept. 9 in Fauquier County Circuit Court.
Reckless driving
A Marshall woman was charged with reckless driving/failure to yield the right of way after she was involved in a car crash July 29, police said.
The crash happened at the intersection of Broad Run Church Road and Riley Road at approximately 6:47 p.m.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, Jenna Nicole Hunsberger, 19, was driving southbound on Riley Road when, as she told police, she thought she hit something in the road. Hunsburger claimed she looked in her rear view mirror but by the time she looked down it was "too late" and she was in the intersection.
Theresa M. Jeffries of Warrenton, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, struck Hunsberger's vehicle, according to the report.
Hunsberger sustained visible injuries and was transported to the hospital.
One hurt in motorcycle wreck
Ronald Lee Berkenstock, 64, of Warrenton, was reportedly injured in a motorcycle crash July 30.
The wreck happened near the intersection of Casanova Road and Catlett Road at approximately 6 a.m.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, Berkenstock was riding a 2000 Kawasaki Voyager XII west on Casanova Road when he applied the brakes to avoid hitting a deer in the road. The motorbike skidded approximately 15 feet before landing on its left side and sliding more than 130 feet. The motorcycle finally came to rest in the road.
Berkenstock sustained visible injuries and was transported to the hospital.
DUI charged
A Nokesville man was reportedly charged with DUI after he was involved in a car crash July 31.
The wreck happened in the area of Old Auburn Road and Dumfries Road at approximately 11:20 p.m.
An accident report compiled by a Fauquier County deputy indicates German Ramos III was driving a a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt when he failed to negotiate a turn and went off the right side of the road, where he hit a tree.
Ramos, who had visible signs of injury, was transported to the hospital.
House hit
Comfort Idum, 21, of Bealeton, was charged with reckless driving/failure to maintain control of a vehicle, after she was involved in a car crash Aug. 5.
Trooper KerriAnne Corbett, who is assigned to the Area 12 Office in Warrenton investigated the wreck.
Corbett said it happened on U.S. 17 just south of Old Marsh Road at approximately 7:11 a.m.
Idum's vehicle went off the road to the left and Idum overcorrected, causing it to go off the road to the right, Corbett said. The vehicle then struck a residential garage, which collapsed on a car that was already parked inside, the trooper added.
Idum, who was hurt in the crash, was reportedly transported to the hospital.
