New Baltimore This Week: Bridge work closes U.S. 29 south
Growing up living around the world was so much fun, but living and raising my family on a farm here in New Baltimore has also been a lot of fun.
I've been itching to travel, so this summer I've scratched that itch twice, once spending time in Sweden with a childhood friend and again this past week in Naples, Fla., with my brother, Bob Carson.
I have decided that my children need to be familiar with the ins and outs of airports so that someday when a great opportunity comes their way, they won't hesitate to seek their dreams because of the lack of air travel experience. I wonder where we will go next summer. I can't wait.
Juniors at Kettle Run High School will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow night, Thursday, Aug. 7, in the lecture hall. Bring your ideas that could become Kettle Run traditions.
Southbound traffic on U.S. 29 at the Buckland Bridge will be closed this weekend for construction beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11.
For those who live in New Baltimore, use Route 55 to Beverley Mills Road (Route 600W) to get home from Gainesville, Manassas and beyond.
Once upon a time, there were three little boys who became Cub Scouts during their Ritchie Elementary years and decided they liked the whole idea of exploring, camping and building on a concept of brotherhood through leadership.
These three friends continued their education through Warrenton Middle and Fauquier High together as typical boys and also as dedicated Boy Scouts in Warrenton Troop 175.
On Aug. 10, beginning at 3 p.m., Kyle Donovan, Alex Chakalos and Carl Frantz Jr. will be recognized and celebrated in a triple Eagle Scout Court of Honor at Warrenton United Methodist Church. Please join their families at this historical celebration as this trio event will be a first for Troop 175.
