Goldvein This Week: More Jubilee volunteers needed

Birthday wishes go out this week to Willie Burke and David VanScoy on Aug. 7 and Bernie Carroll on Aug. 11. Happy birthday, one and all.

Morrisville United Methodist Church would like to invite all teens, middle school, high school and college age, to join pastor Hae Rin Lawson each Sunday as she begins a Sunday School class and worship service just for them.

The class started Aug. 3 and will be held each Sunday following the 9 a.m. worship service. The special teen worship service will begin the third Sunday in September at 11 a.m. Call the church at (540) 439-2594 for more details.

Grove Baptist Church held Vacation Bible School last week, and it was a great success. About 60 children attended. They learned a lot and had a good time.

Mount Holly Baptist Church in Remington would like to invite everyone to its 175th anniversary/homecoming celebration at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 17.

Special music will be provided by the Greater Love Quartet. Dinner on the grounds will follow the morning service. The Rev. Earl Clarkson will be preaching a revival at Mount Holly Aug. 18-22 at 7:30 p.m. For more details, call the church at (540) 439-1504.

The Goldvein Jubilee will be held Sept. 13. The event is a fundraiser which benefits Monroe Park and the Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department.

There will be a car show, parade, carriage rides, pony rides, games for the kids, door prizes, a silent auction, live entertainment and great food. More volunteers are needed to make this event a success. Call Bob at (540) 752-5330 if you would like to help out.

This week's quote is by Wilder Penfield: "Rest, with nothing else, results in rust. It corrodes the mechanisms of the brain. The rhubarb that no one picks goes to seed."

Have a wonderful week.

Goldvein columnist Pam VanScoy can be reached at (540) 439-0686 or pamvs2000@yahoo.com.
