Ride series begins
The Old Dominion Hounds will host three spring trail rides, starting this Saturday, April 26. This week's ride is at The Field House in Hume. The May 10 ride is at Houyhnhmn Farm in Hume; the May 31 ride is at Hunter's Rest in Flint Hill.
All rides start at 10 a.m. and are "walking only," making them a good schooling opportunity for young horses or green riders.
The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. Riders are asked to bring a dish to share for a picnic that follows each ride. Directions are at (540) 364-3995.
Trailblazers show next week
The Trailblazers will host their annual fun show Sunday, May 4 at Grove in Warrenton. Classes begin at 9 a.m. and will include English and western pleasure, gaited, trail, jumping, driving and games.

Thoroughbred benefit set Saturday
The Thoroughbred Network will host its second benefit horse show this Saturday, April 26 at the historic Warrenton Horse Show Grounds. Competition begins with in-hand classes (for Thoroughbreds and non-Thoroughbreds), with under saddle classes to follow.
There will be an adoption parade of retired racehorses at 12 p.m.; several rescue groups and animal shelters will have booths and ongoing adoptions.

Special TTEAM clinic
Horse trainer and behaviorist Linda Tellington-Jones, founder of TTEAM and TTouch will conduct a five-day horse training clinic April 30-May 4 in Middleburg at Brookhill Farm. New jumper shows planned
Fox Chase Farm in Middleburg will host jumper shows May 31, July 12, Oct. 18 and Oct. 25.

DerbyCross moves to Morven
The DerbyCross show jumping and cross-country competition will be held Aug. 16 at Morven Park in Leesburg. Teams of four riders — three three-day eventers plus one show jumper — will compete against the clock for purse money and prizes. Details are online at www.derbycross.com.
Stable Tour approaches
The annual Hunt Country Stable Tour is set May 24-25 around the Middleburg area, with an insider look at stables, training facilities and historic sites in Virginia's storied "horse country."

Blue Ridge ride series
The Blue Ridge Hunt will host a series of trail rides. The April 26 ride is from The Pines in Boyce at 9 a.m.; the May 4 ride is from Oxbow Farm in Front Royal at 9 a.m.; the May 10 ride is from Callander in Berryville at 9 a.m.; the May 18 ride is from Mt. Hebron in Berryville at 10 a.m.; and the May 24 ride is from The Oaks in Millwood at 9 a.m. The cost is $20 with breakfast to follow each ride. Call (540) 247-1564 for details.
'Supplement' your education
The Piedmont Equine Practice will host a lecture on feed supplements by Dr. C.A. Shea Porr on Wednesday, May 7 at the clinic near Marshall. Dr. Porr is the equine extension agent for the Northern District of the Virginia Cooperative Extension. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m., with the talk to follow at 6:30 p.m. The event is free.
