Bracelet stolenFauquier County detectives are investigating the theft of jewelry from a Kines Road residence.
Someone from the 8200 block of Kines Road in Warrenton reported the theft of the five-carat diamond tennis bracelet to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office April 7. The item was apparently taken on March 13. It was valued at $15,000.
Larceny investigated
The theft of power tools from a Bealeton residence remains under investigation.
A caller from the 10200 block of Fayettesville Road reported the theft of an impact wrench, composite drive and other items to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office April 7. The items were reportedly worth approximately $3,000.
Motor vehicle theft
The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office received a report of a stolen vehicle April 11.
According to police records, a caller from the 11900 block of Freemans Ford Road in Remington reported a 1995 Toyota Celica stolen. It was worth $1,000.
An investigation is ongoing.
Contributing to the delinquency of minors
Two Remington residents were reportedly arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors at approximately 10 p.m. April 12.
Remington Police Officer A. Abdo arrested Ashley Willingham, 19, and Wayne L. Jernigan, 18, on the charge after he determined they purchased and consumed alcohol with three juveniles, police said. The juveniles ranged in age from 16 to 17.
According to Remington Police Officer Tim Benjamin, all of the juveniles were intoxicated when police arrived. They were turned over to their parents or guardians, and face charges of possession of alcohol and public intoxication, Benjamin said.
Willingham was also charged with possession of marijuana, according to Benjamin.
Willingham and Jerningan were both transported to the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center, where they were held pending court appearances.
Possession of marijuana
A Remington man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana April 13, police said.
Remington Police Officer Tim Benjamin said Michael J. Riley, 20, was arrested on the charge as the result of a traffic stop. Riley was stopped in the 100 block of Main Street in Remington at approximately 1:44 a.m., Benjamin said.
Riley, who was with two juveniles, allegedly had marijuana.
He was released on a summons.
Wreck results in DUI arrest
Virgil L. Presgraves III, 48, of The Plains, was arrested and charged with DUI and traffic offenses after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident April 8, police said.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's accident report, the crash happened on Free State Road near Mount Joy Road just after 7:30 p.m. Presgraves was driving a 1994 Dodge Ram north on Free State Road when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and went off the road. The vehicle spun out and collided with a tree.
Presgraves was not injured in the wreck, according to the report.
Hit-and-run accidents investigated
Fauquier County deputies responded to two hit-and-run accidents last week.
According to an accident report taken by one deputy, the first incident occurred just after midnight April 8 at the intersection of U.S. 17 and U.S. 29. The driver of an unknown truck that was making a left turn at the intersection turned too sharply, causing it come into contact with a 2004 Chrysler Concord that was also making a left turn, according to the report. The Chrysler, which belongs to a Bealeton man, sustained $3,500 in damages, police said.
There were no injuries.
The second accident occurred in the vicinity of Canter Lane and Dumfries Road at approximately 7:30 p.m. April 12.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's report, the unknown driver of a 1993 Volvo 940 ran off the right shoulder of the road and collided with a mailbox, causing approximately $200 in damages to the mailbox and post. The car came to rest in a nearby front yard, according to the report.
The Volvo sustained approximately $5,000 in damages, police said.
