New board would kill Costco

Fauquier's three new supervisors say they would vote against the planned shopping center and Costco near New Baltimore if the board gets another crack at the contentious project.

Depending on the outcome of a lawsuit to stop the project, Terry Nyhous (Center District), Peter Schwartz (Marshall District) and Holder Trumbo (Scott District) may get a chance to reverse the previous board's approval of the huge commercial proposal.

By a 3-2 vote, the previous board last November granted developer Cross Creek Investments LLC special-exception permit approval for a 250,000-square-foot shopping center at U.S. 29 and Route 600.
