Man arrested on drug warrantJohn E. Morton, 31, of Warrenton, was reportedly arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of cocaine March 28.
Warrenton Police Chief Connie Novak said authorities served Morton with two additional felony warrants after he was found to have approximately 20 grams of crack cocaine concealed on his body. The warrants were for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine in a state detention facility, Novak said.
Burglary with intent to commit larceny
Police said Marcus L. Wymer of Warrenton was arrested and charged with burglary with intent to commit larceny March 30.
According to Warrenton Sgt. George W. Southard Jr., the chain of events that resulted in the arrest began when Officers J.T. Rapoli Jr., P.D. Surber and Sgt. B.G. Kerns went to Singleton Circle at approximately 9:10 p.m. after receiving a report of a suspicious person.
When the officers arrived, they learned that someone saw the suspect, who was later identified as Wymer, in their garage. Wymer was allegedly going through the complainant's car, and fled on foot after the victim confronted him.
Police found Wymer on Walker Drive and took him into custody, Southard said.
Wymer reportedly remained at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center early this week. He is scheduled to appear in court May 1.
In all, Southard said four arrests have been made in connection with thefts from vehicles. However, he urged residents to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity to police.
Larcenies investigated
Several larcenies reported to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office last week remain under investigation.
The first incident was reported March 27. According to information provided by the agency, a complainant from the 9400 block of Lees Mill Road in Warrenton reported the theft of firearms and jewelry. The total estimated loss is $850.
Maj. Greg Mauck said someone in the 7200 block of Marr Drive, Warrenton, reported a breaking and entering with the theft of power tools March 28. The items were valued at approximately $1,200.
Another caller from the 5200 block of Leeds Manor Road, Hume, reported a burglary and larceny March 29, Mauck said. A firearm and and $500 worth of plumbing supplies were allegedly taken, he added.
A caller from the 14000 block of Hume Road in Hume also reported the theft of a firearm and jewelery March 29. The total estimated loss is $2,495, Mauck said.
Broad Run man charged with DUI after wreck
Christian James Brushie of Broad Run was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident at approximately 2:25 p.m. March 22, police said.
A Fauquier County deputy's accident report indicates the wreck happened on Crest Hill Road near Dixon's Mill Road. Brushie was driving a 2000 GMC Jimmie when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a fence, according to the report. The vehicle apparently rolled over several times before hitting a tree and coming to rest on the passenger side.
Brushie and two passengers were reportedly injured. The two passengers were transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, police said.
One hurt in wreck
One person was reportedly hurt in a car accident on Greenwich Road near Stage Coach Road March 28.
William Harry Rodick Jr. of Ruther Glen, Va., was driving a 2008 Chevrolet HHR north on Greenwich Road at approximately 1:52 p.m., according to an accident report taken by a Fauquier County deputy. The vehicle allegedly went off the the right side of the roadway before hitting a tree and a Verizon pole wire, causing the guide wire to snap loose.
The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by EMS units, according to the report.
Purcellville woman hurt in crash
Maxine Hay Beam of Purcellville was hurt in a car crash on Sumerduck Road March 30, police said.
According to a Fauquier County deputy's accident report, the crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. Beam was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee southbound on Sumderduck Road when she ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree, police said. The Jeep came to rest in the southbound lane, where it overturned on its left side.
Beam was reportedly transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.
