Teaching Our Children To Be Grasshoppers - The Falling Of American Pride

The front page showcase on Jimmy’s Markets asking for donations to stay in business struck a nerve with me.
Am I please to see Jimmy’s closing … NO . I shop and eat at Jimmy’s on occasion. Will I give them a donation – NO.

Who would have thought that Americans would resort to begging others for donations to keep their business open?

It is a shameless erosion of the pride that this country was built on. It seems the drip, drip drip, drip of liberal ideology has instilled the expectation “that I deserve special treatment”.

Oh, the chattering class and bleeding hearts will all say how mean spirited this is and we should rally to support our community businesses.

I say no. I do not want to pay for your failed business; I do not want to be taxed for your failure to work hard enough to buy health insurance, I do not want to pay for your bad mortgage, I do not want to live in a country that rewards failure.

I have started business that have failed. I learned from those experiences and paid for those failures. Business failure is part of the cycle of capitalism. Hats off to all those who try. But … to expect that you should be rescued … consider the lesson we are teaching our children.

So sit down tonight and tell your children “Be grasshoppers and don’t worry,” just cruse. Those silly ants that work all day and half the night … they will bail you out.

You have my premission to publish this letter.
