Stunning development

I was stunned to read your article, "New group home breaks ground in Warrenton," published on Jan. 2.

Since when do we have open license to review the case files of our potential neighbors and announce their various labels and conditions to the public?

Since when do potential neighbors get to vent their largely uninformed views about their potential neighbors in the newspaper?

Do these people have no right to privacy? Does their being assigned various disability labels mean that standards for basic human kindness and decency do not apply?

What other group do you think you could treat this way, with such mindless disregard for their integrity and feelings as human beings?

With attitudes like this, it is little wonder that Virginia is near dead-last in national rankings of community disability services.
