Lies, lies, lies

I am writing to inform people of misleading information that is being released out of Sen. Webb’s office. I called recently to express my concern about President Obama’s recess appointments that he recently made.

I asked the staffer who answered the phone why the president made the appointments when the Senate was in session; the staffer replied that the Senate is in recess until Jan. 24.

I then went to the senate.gov   page, and it showed that the Senate had a proforma session on Jan. 3, and one scheduled for Jan. 6. Clearly the Senate is in session.

I then asked to speak to Sen. Webb’s chief of staff so he could explain why incorrect information was coming out of his office. The staffer stated that he couldn’t take my call.

Residents of Virginia, not only is it wrong for the president of the United States to subvert the U.S. Constitution by appointing people of authority on his own and not following rules and regulations, but on top of that, our own elected U.S. senator’s office is spewing misinformation and distortions to spin the truth.

At least when I called Sen. Warner’s office, they didn’t lie about the Senate being in session; they simply said that he supported the president in going around Congress.

I expect our senators to uphold the U.S. Constitution, since they took an oath to do just that. They are clearly not upholding it, and abusing their authority by not following it.

Moreover, Sen. Webb’s office provided misleading information to cover up the abuse.

We need to be able to trust our senators. Clearly, we can’t, as evidenced by them supporting these appointments by President Obama, and telling mistruths.
