The Mosby Museum opened to considerable acclaim last week, and while a lot of the work to get it ready was deadline-pushing, the exhibits were all in order for the first visitors.
Word has it that the museum had an initial "heft" that surprised some folks, with a considerable number of artifacts on display. That will likely only get even better as the grand opening, scheduled for March, arrives.
We have taken our shots at this project before -- we'd say that there was plenty of time to do so, but that would be petty.
Instead, we congratulate the Town of Warrenton on recently securing money to open the museum through the acquisition and sale of historic preservation tax credits, and wish nothing but the best for everyone involved with this long-awaited venture.
Old Town is becoming quite the destination for history buffs with this opening and the debut of Lincoln Washington Society at 45 Main St. coming up this Saturday.
These two new museums join the Liberty Heritage Society and the Old Jail Museum as places of interest and historic significance for Fauquier residents and tourists.
