Thirteen-year-old Cory Kleinman wrote a play based on the book, The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

The Markham Theater Group in Marshall will perform the play next month.

Kleinman lives in Marshall and is an eighth-grader at Wakefield School.

After hearing the music in the musical, The Secret Garden, Cory invented characters and scenes that are not in the book version.

This is the first play Cory has written. She has acted in four roles with the Markham Theater Group plus two at Wakefield.

The performance will be at 7:00 p.m. Nov. 24, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The Nov. 24 performance will be The Old Markham Schoolhouse at 3212 Stone Church Road. The other two productions will be at The Marshall Community Center.

Admission to all performances is $5. Reservations are suggested. Call the Schoolhouse at (540) 364-4638 and the community center at (540) 422-8580.
