The Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department is collecting supplies to take to New York for people recovering from Hurricane Sandy.
The fire department is looking for donations of N95 masks, trash bags, shovels, bleach, disposable rubber or work gloves, rubber boots, cases of water or Gatorade, toiletries and sanitary wipes.
Two Warrenton firefighters, Jonathan Koglin and Wyatt Smith, are organizing the supply drive on their own, apart from any other organizations, said Warrenton chief Sam Myers.
Residents can bring donations to Warrenton's EMS station on Hospital Drive or to the carport at 168 Piedmont St. by Fauquier High School. More information can be found at the "Donate For A Cause" Facebook page here:

Koglin and Smith will fill a rented box truck with the supplies and drive them to New York by Dec. 22. They are accepting monetary donations to pay for truck rental in a separate account. The money will be kept separate from fire department funds.
