Warrenton Christmas parade not likely this year

Thursday, Sep. 20 | By .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

It is doubtful that Warrenton will have a Christmas parade, Town Manager Kenneth McLawhon wrote in an email today.

Women of Wonder (WOW) elected not to organize the Warrenton Christmas parade as they have for the past three years. Citing the huge effort required and a lack of resources, WOW wrote in an email that they informed Mayor George Fitch and Town Manager Kenneth McLawhon of the decision last March.

No other nonprofit group stepped up to take charge of making the parade happen, McLawhon wrote.

In stating that the Christmas parade may not occur, he considered the amount of time remaining to put the event together and the considerable volunteer labor required. However, he did not rule out the possibility.
