A tractor-trailer struck a woman on U.S. Route 29 in front of Pete's Park-And-Eat Sunday night.
According to preliminary radio traffic, the trailer was driving at about 45 miles per hour when it hit a woman in her 20s in the southbound lane of the road.
When medics found her, she was lying in the parking lot of Pete's Park-and-Eat, semi-conscious and struggling to breathe. An Air Care helicopter flew the woman to Inova Fairfax Hospital for serious head injuries.
Virginia State Police are investigating the accident.
