Tinpot Run Lane closing Feb. 4 to Feb. 7

The Virginia Department of Transportation Tinpot Run Lane near Remington between Feb. 4 and Feb. 7 for utility work.

Dominion Virginia Power will prepare the road for the Tinpot Run bridge replacement project. The road will be marked with detour signs and closed to through traffic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

General Excavation Inc. will replace the bridge. The construction firm won the contract with a low bid of $2.3 million on Jan. 25. The firm plans to start construction this spring, with completion slated for early 2014. The project will replace the existing bridge, build in 1960, with a pre-stressed concrete structure equipped with a shared-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The project will also realign the road to improve user safety.
