Supervisors to discuss Opal Gateway at Catlett town hall meeting

Wednesday, Nov. 14 | By Mark Grandstaff
Tonight, two supervisors and a developer invite the public to a town hall meeting to discuss a proposed trucker oasis at Opal.

The town hall meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Catlett bingo hall. Fauquier Supervisors Chester Stribling and Lee Sherbeyn will be there, along with Joe Wiltse, who represents developer Hasan Abdallah for the Opal gateway project.

Abdallah, a cardiologist in McLean, wants to build 50 RV lots, a hotel, a medical office and other mixed-use commercial sites in a 100-acre piece of land directly across from the intersection of Marsh and Fayettesville Roads. It stands to benefit from VDOT's Opal flyover project, an ongoing $44.6-million effort to smooth out the intersections of U.S. Routes 17 and 29.

Stribling, Sherbeyn and Wiltse will be available to receive public feedback from district residents about the project and about other issues relevant to them.
