A vehicle accident near Hume Thursday afternoon sent six children to the hospital.

At 3:42 p.m., a vehicle struck a bridge in the 9200 block of Crest Hill Road. The crash injured six children inside the vehicle. Firefighters summoned three Air Care helicopters to take three seriously injured children to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Two others were sent by ambulance to Prince William Hospital and one was sent to Fauquier Hospital.

Information about the driver and vehicle are not yet available from the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office, which investigated the accident.
