Sheriff’s deputies seek help with rash of burglary attempts

Thursday, Jan. 3 | By Mark Grandstaff
On Dec. 30, someone tried to break into several businesses on U.S. Route 17 in southern Fauquier.

At 1:10 a.m. that morning, Fauquier sheriff's deputies answered an alarm at the Morrisville Mini-Mart, finding the door pried open. At 2:46 a.m., an alarm sounded at the Opal Mini-Storage. Its door was also pried open.

Following this, deputies checked other businesses and discovered burglary attempts at the Goldvein General Store in Goldvein and Pete’s Park and Eat in Opal.

Deputies believe the perpetrators were travelling north on Route 17 attempting to break in to businesses along the highway. None of the businesses affected were entered and nothing was taken.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or others should call Fauquier County Crime Solvers at 540-349-1000. Callers can also contact the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 540-422-8650. Any information will remain confidential and the caller’s identity can remain anonymous.
