Rhythm in Blue coming to Warrenton Feb. 29

The Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble comes to Warrenton on Feb. 29 for a free community concert at the Highland School’s Rice Theater.
The United States Air Force Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble travels to Warrenton on leap day, Feb. 29, to perform a free community concert at Highland School’s Rice Theater.

Led by Master Sergeant John Cisar, Rhythm in Blue is a highly entertaining and versatile13-piece ensemble that performs the American musical art forms of jazz, blues and funk.

Performances feature a repertoire of great jazz masters, such as Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, The Yellowjackets, Charlie Parker, Michael Brecker and Herbie Hancock.

The ensemble also pays tribute to the Big Band leaders of the swing era, such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and Glenn Miller. In addition, band vocalists entertain with musical gems from jazz divas such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Diane Schuur.

The free community concert at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 29, is sponsored by the Fauquier Times-Democrat and Highland School. Tickets are available at the Times-Democrat office at 39 Culpeper St., Warrenton, and at the Bealeton, Marshall and Warrenton branches of the Fauquier County Public Library.

Seating is limited. For more information, call the Times-Democrat at 347-4222.
